The Primary purpose of the Aero Squadron is to provide a volunteer airborne search and rescue capability within the county. Utilizing their unique knowledge and skills of flying and aerial observation, volunteer members dedicate their personal time and their aircraft in support of this vital community service.
The squadron’s secondary purpose is to furnish an additional cadre of trained persons ready to act in a law enforcement capacity as the Sheriff may order. To that end, Aero Squadron members are required to complete college level courses in administration of justice and firearms training.
